Tigers? In Oklahoma? You Betcha.

I know I am late on the whole "Tiger King" trend, but the more I watched the show, the more I could relate it to Oklahoma State University. Tigers in Oklahoma? Well, you would think never. In the case of Joe Exotic, there is 200+ tigers that don't belong in bumfuck nowhere Wynnewood, Oklahoma. Believe it or not, Mr. Exotic wasn't the first to start the trend of tigers in Oklahoma. It all started in the 19th century with the "Princeton of the Plains". Oklahoma State got that nickname because when they opened in 1890, the Stillwater Campus was originally dubbed "Oklahoma Agriculture and Mechanical College". Their colors, black and orange, just as they are today. Their colors appropriately led to the Tiger mascot. The tiger mascot with the capital "O" gave OKA&M one of the hardest OG logos of all time, the tiger jumping through the hoop:

Sure this is a very basic logo, but I wouldn't be mad if OSU had this on a football helmet or on the front of a basketball jersey. The more that people thought of it... the more they questioned how great a tiger mascot was for... the middle of nowhere Oklahoma, just like Wynnewood, was Stillwater a great fit for a tiger? Not so much, so they adopted the Aggie mascot which would later turn into our beloved Pistol Pete.

The second direct correlation, and probably the most obvious that I noticed was the mullet. Mention hair in any sort of college football conversation and it is a guarantee that Mike Gundy's "business in the front, party in the back" will get brought up. Apparently, in 2020, it is cool for old men to rock a mullet. Just ask Joe Exotic and Mike Gundy.

Now I don't want to compare the two fellows on their beliefs of life (cause these two men or entirely different) but these two names have been 'hot in the streets' the last couple of weeks. Mr. Exotic because of his new Netflix Documentary, and Mr. Gundy for speaking his mind on CoronaVirus (https://gfornaro17.wixsite.com/sports/post/the-stillwater-gundy-trials).

The last thing I noticed about the documentary is the sheer number of guns. I know it is very stereotypical of Oklahomans to love their second amendment, but I am here to affirm those stereotypes. Just about every person I have met in Stillwater owns a firearm. Now, unlike what you see on Tiger King where Joe and his number of husbands (never thought I'd see a gay man in Oklahoma) blow shit up left and right, everyone in Oklahoma is very safe with their guns. Oklahomans are open about having guns, and basically want you to know that they have guns, but they don't tape a doll to an explosive, and curse Carole Baskin while they have target practice on explosives. The regular Oklahoman just goes out and kills turkeys, deer, or pigs, but Joe Exotic is much more psychotic than the regular gun loving pan-handler. This video explains a little bit more of Joe's gun obsession at: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LeWcZ6WDZP4 (times: 0:30, 0:50, 2:05, 5:00, 6:00)

I will not be commenting on Doc Antle for the sheer fact that I am scared of what power that man has over me and the rest of the United State, and probably the entire "Ch*r*h *f Sc**nt*l*gy". He has no relation to Oklahoma State, but wow is he different.

Although the extent of this post's relationship to sports is essentially the OKA&M College's logo, I really just couldn't believe this show and the couple of jaw dropping parallels that it had to OSU. If it wasn't for this documentary, or the original OKA&M logo, there would be absolutely zero correlation of Oklahoma and Tigers. Making that connection forced me into spending an hour of my life finding more connections that I wish I had never thought of.

This show is utter blasphemy. Who knew that the Tiger Zoo world was such a shit show? And to believe for the last two years I lived just a short hour or so from all of this craziness. Mr. Exotic, if you ever see this blog and want to freely speak to the people, Simply Sports would be more than happy to interview you (it might help us get some clout).

What did we learn today? Other than a recap of some different things about OSU and a Netflix documentary, the ONLY thing I think I taught you here is that Tigers and Oklahoma do not mix.

Here is a list of places tiger's belong:

1. The Wild

2. In the mouth of Ed Orgeron succeeding the word "Geaux"

That is the entirety of the list.
