Remember the first time you owned up to something to your parents? And you got the "I'm not mad, I am just disappointed" talk. Well, Gronk, Brady, Bob Kraft... I'm not mad I am just disappointed. The big sports news of the day is the Gronk trade. So, if you're reading this blog, and don't yet know the news, Tom Brady and Rob Gronkowski are a "pending physical" from reuniting in New England south... I mean Tampa Bay. My two favorite players in football now wear a different uniform for the same team. I really thought Brady would retire a Patriot and that Gronk was going to come back for the 19-20 playoffs, instead, they are doing what every old person does, and are moving down to Florida. Thankfully we still have Edelman. We lose him to the Buccaneers and I might never watch football again.
So, what has Gronk been up to in his Brett Favre style "I'll be back next year" type of retirement?
Became an entrepreneur:
Gave away all of his Patriots gear knowing TB12 and him would reunite in Tampa:
Gave his best shot at being a reporter for the NFL:
Worked out a ton:
Partied, as you could have guessed:
Became a WWE wrestler:
Went on THE WORST show ever:
And played basketball exactly how you would expect Gronk to play basketball in quarantine:
At least retirement didn't change Gronk and he is still a giant 14 year old in a full grown man body. Gotta love him.
I know most of you are probably happy. You think the Patriot way has died. It hasn't. We still have the greatest coach in the NFL (count the rings before you dispute that). The first completion from Brady to Gronk this year is going to be complete nostalgia, the eyes of every Buccs fan are going to be wide open when it happens, and it will be ESPN's post with a corny "Well we missed this" kind of caption. Well ESPN, I too miss it. I can't say that the Patriots made the wrong move to make both the players happy cause then there would be a 30 for 30 called "#DoYourJob" where Kraft/Belichick is the new Jerry Krause.
Other times trades broke my heart:
In 2011, the Nuggets gave Chauncey Billups, Carmelo Anthony, and three others to the Knicks. The trade was pretty decent, but as a 12 year old kid, having the two best players on your team that season get traded for "building a future" is tough to hear. I was never a huge Carmelo fan, but Chauncey Billups was the home-town guy who gave me aspirations that I would never fulfill to play in the NBA.

The one other time I remember having my favorite players being shipped away was in 2013 for the Celtics to begin their rebuild. They gave up Jason Terry, Paul Pierce, and Kevin Garnett for Gerald Wallace, Kris Humphries, Tornike Shengelia, Reggie Evans, Keith Bogans, and three picks... two of which would turn into Jayson Tatum and Jaelyn Brown. At the time this was the most upset I'd ever been. We gave up my two favorite Celtics for picks.... Today, I couldn't be happier with this trade.

So, Gronk, Brady, enjoy each others company once again. Enjoy your time in New England, and don't you dare text Julian Edelman.
